Description | Two short operas written by Stravinski and Satie, narrated by Tilda Swinton. Text by John Wells. Erik Satie's hagiographical opera for marionettes relates the fortunes of Genevieve as she is married, abandoned, assaulted, set up and sentenced to death. Stavinsky's allegorical opera follows, performed by glove and stick puppets. Renard the fox tries to tempt the proud cockerel from his roost with a variety of disguises. Battle ensues and the cock is only saved by the intervention of the cat and the goat. |
