Abstract

It’s all change in the innovation game in the Big Data and Internet of Things era.

Assumptions underpinning established technological drives need to be challenged to more effectively integrate people, places and things into what it means to innovate.

The data-rich experiential economy represents a new economic stage of embedded connectivity where virtual lives are enmeshed with diverse encounters with the physical world.

We are at the beginning of meeting these challenges and the ‘Internet of Place’ focus offers practical signposts for ways of doing so.

These build on insights around the greater potential for fusion of creative arts and design, technology and business, to fuel new forms of innovation in businesses and services.

New visions and strategies are the way forward . . .
