Abstract

Media Management is an emergent area of study with roots in both management science and media and communication studies. This chapter explores the tensions within the field and explores the potential for using critical theory (and in particular, Critical Management Studies) as a bridge between these approaches. It also examines the unique characteristics of management within media industries.
