| Abstract | In order to meet the UK Government’s target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving the energy efficiency of existing homes is essential. Obtaining planning permission has been identified as one of the obstacles to implementing domestic retrofit projects. This research investigates the extent of the problem and recommends changes to the planning system and local authority practice. |
