Abstract | This paper elaborates on the relationship between AI, digital platforms, and regulation. We discuss the ethical issues AI brings, including discrimination, bias, and personal privacy protection. In the end, we provide some suggestions for the AI Bill in Taiwan (R.O.C.). The paper is divided into three parts. The first part is about the relationship between AI and digital platforms, illustrating issues such as data protection and digital platform capitalism. This section criticizes large digital technology companies from the perspective of the political economy and offers some suggestions for legislation. Secondly, we analyse the difficulties and challenges that artificial intelligence will bring from the perspective of the media industry. If AI tools are not regulated, it may make the media defunction and erode democracy and society. In the last part, we analyse the advantages and disadvantages of AI-driven algorithms. This paper believes that regulations are not legislated to restrict AI but instead to protect human fundamental rights. Regulations should be grounded in the public interest, aimed at enhancing the stability of the AI sector, and fostering more investment and development. |
