| Abstract | Since the end of World War II, the UK has experienced a significant influx of migrants. By the 1980s, Black British artists had become an important creative force in many visual art fields, including artists' moving image. Through two films from Black British artists, the article analyses how they reflect the Black British experience and reimagine Black Britishness in the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic contemporary British society. Meanwhile, the article also discusses how these practices deconstruct the myth of a White, Homogeneous Britain and British identity to reclaim Black British history and the integral status of Blackness in contemporary Britishness. |
