Abstract

This chapter examines the causes and intersection of forced displacement, economic integration, tourism and hospitality, contributing to the migration-sustainable development debate in the European framework. Exploring the travel and hospitality sectors offers a way of understanding the possibilities for refugees to integrate into society and contribute to the economic and cultural legacy. Drawing on examples from various European countries, with special attention to Greece, the chapter emphasises the importance of education, training and economic and political strategies to highlight the necessity for policies that effectively address the potential opportunities and the inherent challenges.
