Description

This artist talk traces my sustained interrogation of photography's conceptual and material boundaries. Rejecting the camera as the sole means of image-making, the work turns to the body directly, producing images that are as much physical events as they are photographs. The body becomes both instrument and subject of image production, collapsing the conventional distance between photographer and photograph. The resulting works challenge assumptions about authorship, mediation, and the nature of the photographic medium itself, asking what it means to make an image through touch, rather than through observation. Drawing on broader discourses around expanded photography, haptic visuality, and the materiality of the image, I argue that the photograph might be understood not as a window onto the world, but as the residue of a direct, physical encounter.
