Dr Elizabeth Allen

Elizabeth Allen is a Principal Lecturer at the University of Westminster, teaching in the BA Creative Media Arts and MA Art and Emerging Technologies programs. After studying Photography and Electronic Imaging and a Master’s in Digital Imaging, she worked in photography practice before transitioning into teaching and gaining a PhD in Computational Imaging. She now serves as the CreaTech Academic Lead for the College of Design and Creative Industries, a cross-college initiative to drive innovation with industry and to integrate emerging technologies into teaching and research. Her research explores the intersections of art and science, advanced digital literacies, pedagogies for emerging technologies, and photography, machine vision and AI. Currently, she co-leads the Quintin Hogg Trust-funded project Emerging Technologies and Advanced Technological Literacies for Creative Disciplines. She co-edited and authored the 10th Edition of the Manual of Photography and is a contributor to the 7th, 8th and 9th Editions of Langford’s Advanced Photography, alongside a range of book chapters, journal articles and symposia.
