Mr Rob Macmaster
I left school at 16 to join the family business however after few years I ventured into other avenues including three years in the army before completing a BA (Hons) in Social Science at the Polytechnic of Central London, the former name for the University of Westminster, in 1991.
I completed a Masters in Critical Theory at the University of Nottingham before returning to the University of Westminster in February 1995 to teach. I have also taught at University of Greenwich and have taught further education at City and Islington College. I have a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education from the Institute of Education, University of London.
I am a Principal Lecturer in Political Theory specialising in Continental and Anglo-American Political Theory with a focus on political agency. I am also Senior Tutor for the Department of Politics of International Relations having previously served as Director for the Programme and Subject Area Leader.
I am currently writing a journal article on Revolutions and Space: a comparative investigation of Lenin, Hannah Arendt and Maurice Merleau-Ponty. I intend to develop this research into a monograph comparing Lenin's, Arendt's and Merleau-Ponty's conceptions of revolution to help give some theoretical shape to the current wave of revolutions and their possible outcomes.
