Mr Mark Cambridge

Mark Cambridge is Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Senior Tutor for Criminology. He holds an LLB (Hons) from Kingston University and an MSc in Legal Studies from University of Edinburgh.

Mark provided consultancy advice on a Youth Taskforce commissioned piece of research exploring the views of residents within Youth Crime Action Plan (YCAP) areas. The research aimed to understand more about perceptions regarding young people and crime, anti-social behaviour and alcohol use/misuse and efforts to tackle these problems. The intention of the study was to look beyond the official crime statistics and understand more about the views of communities in the areas where youth crime and anti-social behaviour has been a significant local issue (and subsequently where YCAP has been targeted). The research can be located here (downloads pdf).

He was also involved in a study employing quantitative and qualitative data collection methods as part of a persistent young offenders project undertaken for a London Borough Youth Offending Team. The project focused on identifying the means and methods of preventing offending among children and young people through the identification of 'risk factors'. The study developed targeting interventions aimed at those already in contact with the youth justice system and informed policy direction at a local level.

Awarded the Distinguished Sessional Lecturer award in 2007 by the University of London, Birkbeck College, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to learning and teaching in the Faculty of Continuing Education.
