Dr Vasoula Hadjivarnava


Dr Vasoula Hadjivarnava is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Westminster Business School. She holds a PhD in Economics (London Metropolitan), an MSc in Economics/Econometrics (University of London) and a BSc in Mathematical Economics (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).

Dr Hadjivarnava has previously worked as a visiting lecturer in Macroeconomics and Econometrics at City University, London Metropolitan and Greenwich University. She also supervised project work for a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.


Dr Hadjivarnava's research interests include Inequality, Growth and Poverty in an era of Liberalisation and Globalisation. She presented her research work at various national and international conferences.

 In her current research Dr Hadjivarnava focuses on Economic Inequality and House Prices in the UK. She aims to begin a much-needed discussion on if and how income and wealth polarisation is an explanatory factor in understanding why the housing market is failing to provide affordable housing for all.
