Prof Richard Harding
Richard Harding is Professor Emeritus of the University. From 1990 to 1999 he was Director of the Management Development and Accreditation Centre of the University of Westminster, which specialised in delivering competence-based and academic management awards to corporate clients. He has worked on specialist masters programmes in management/organisation development and strategic leadership. He was Head of the Department of Leadership and Professional Development (2010-2017). He has particular interests in the development of doctoral education.

Richard Harding has written extensively on aspects of naval history, particularly on amphibious operations and the leadership and organisation development of navies and naval power in the modern period. His most recent public contribution was to a programme on naval history and contemporary investment in naval power, broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in May 2017 (See : http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/rearvision/the-history-...) His most recent books include Modern Naval History : Debate and Perspectives (2016) and Naval Leadership in the Atlantic World (2017). He is currently engaged in research on comparative naval leadership and decision-making. He was editor of the Mariner's Mirror, (the leading international journal of maritime historical research) from 2000 to 2005, Chairman of the Society for Nautical Research (2005-2011) and is currently a Vice President and Fellow of the Society. He is Vice President of the British Commission for Maritime History and is a Councillor of the Navy Records Society.
