Dr. Saumya Kareem Reni is a lecturer and an active research fellow of the Applied DSP and VLSI Research group. Saumya received her B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering from the Cochin University of Science and Technology in India, the MSc, VLSI System-on-Chip Design for DSP and Communications from the University of Westminster and Ph.D in Image Processing for Biomedical Applications, University of Westminster, 2014. Her active research area is Image processing specialising in Morphological image processing algorithm development and has been supervising projects involving design and development optical imaging algorithms, mobile application development and design , development and implementation of morphological image processor chip on FPGA, with numerous publications in the field. Saumya is an active research fellow at the ADVRG and has been the co-investigator of the prestigious UK India Educational Research Initiative grant (UKIERI). She is a reviewer of numerous IEEE and IET transactions and conference publications and the Athena Champion of the Department of Engineering, delegating to the “Successfully Integrating Women in to STEM” forum.
Saumya is an active research fellow at the ADVRG since 2009 and has been the co-investigator of the prestigious UK India Educational Research Initiative grant (UKIERI). She is a reviewer of numerous IEEE and IET transactions and conference publications and the Athena Champion of the Department of Engineering, delegating to the “Successfully Integrating Women in to STEM” forum.

Awarded Cavendish Research Scholarship for research in the field of Image Processing for Biomedical applications.
Involved in the preparation of various research proposals and successfully achieved thematic grant for collaborative research awarded by UK India Educational Research Grant (UKIERI 2012).
Successfully received the Enterprise Mini grant (2016).
Selected to present the research work at prestigious Pathology Visions Conference 2012 and 2014 and 2016.
Selected to present her research work at British Society for Parasitology, 2014 at Cambridge University.
Received award for Best Research Paper (runner up), consecutively for 2 years, conducted by Electronics and Computer Science Research Conference, University of Westminster.
