Prof Jacques Leonardi


Academic researcher, developing and evaluating sustainable solutions in logistics.

Since April 2022, my current position is Professor of Sustainable Logistics.

My previous position was Senior Research Fellow in Freight, Logistics and Sustainable Distribution at the University of Westminster, from May 2007 to March 2022. My research areas included freight transport, logistics, and supply chain.

From 2006 to 2007, my position was Researcher at The French National Institute for Transport and Safety Research (now University Gustav Eiffel) in Paris, France, working on freight transport policies and supply chain surveys.

From 1998 to 2005, I was advisor to the Federal Government as Referent of Prof Dr Hartmut Graßl at the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology and German Advisory Council on Global Change in Hamburg, Germany. Main research area was environmental policies.


GeoSence was completed in August 2024. Recently, projects included CIVITAS DESTINATIONS, CITYLAB (EU H2020), Agile Logistics (Greater London Authority), SMARTFUSION, BESTFACT, SUGAR, Green Logistics, Supply Chain Energy, Fideus and Transforum. External Activities and Consultancies

International Advisory Board member for the SENATOR research project 2020-2025.

2019-2022, I was supporting the German GIZ and the Ministry of Transport of China on the National Programme on Green Urban Logistics.

In 2018, I was supporting the German GIZ activities in the Greater Mekong Region, in Indonesia and in China.

2016-2019, I was Advisory Board member for the EC Interreg project SULPITER.

Many past consultancies, notably for OECD, TfL, GLA, EC.
