Marloes’ general research interests lie in the field of EU Law and EU Criminal Law. Currently, her research focuses on the legitimate application of the principle of mutual recognition in EU criminal matters which in recent years has become more challenging due to the serious violations of the foundational values by some Member States and the lack of EU enforcement tools to ensure adherence to these values. Her research also focuses on the implications that the non-compliance of current Member States with the prerequisite principles of EU membership might have on the Pre-Accession Policy.
