Dr Julio Gimenez
I hold a BA in English Language Teaching (National University of Cordoba, Argentina), an MA in English Language Teaching (The University of Reading) and a PhD in Linguistics (Queen Mary, University of London ). I have lectured at Royal Holloway (London), Middlesex University (London), Queen Mary (London) and The University of Nottingham. I have been an external examiner for ta number of MA programmes, and I have examined doctoral students at The University of Essex, Warwick University, The University of Nottingham, and The University of Queensland (Australia) and Jaume I (Spain).
I have supervised PhD students working on patterns of interaction in dyad communication, communication in professional contexts, multilingual writers in UK higher education, and academic literacies.
I have published widely in international journals and have authored and co-authored several monographs and edited collections. I sit on the Editorial Board of a number of international journals and I am also a regular manuscript reviewer.
My research spans academic and professional communication, multilingualism, student agency, and the Human–AI relationship. Informed by my training in linguistics, I investigate the role of language in mediating learning, interaction, and knowledge production across multilingual and technologically mediated contexts. My work aims to advance equitable and reflective practices within higher education and professional settings.
