Dr Angelica De Freitas E Silva


Dr. Angelica de Freitas e Silva research interests include Energy related  Decolonial Approaches, Epistemologies, and Methodologies; Environmental Justice; Global and Social Justice, Social Movements, Resource Conflicts in the Global South. She has a background as a construction lawyer in Brazil. Since 2016, she holds the post of Senior Lecturer in Construction Law at the University of Westminster Business School. Angelica finished her PhD from the university of Westminster Law School in 2019. She got her LLM in International and Commercial Dispute Resolution Law at Westminster Law School in 2015. She got her BA in Law from the Federal University of Ouro Preto in Brazil (2008) and is a qualified lawyer in Brazil since 2009.


Angelica is a member of the Law, Development and Conflict Research Cluster, developing research relating the disciplines of Law and Management with critical epistemologies from the Decolonial Community of Argumentation. She is also running extension projects at the School of Applied Management with funding from the Quintin Hoggs Trust. She is a peer reviewer at the Energy Research & Social Science Journal (Elsevier) and at the Destroços Magazine at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). She is currently writing a book chapter for the collection Decolonising: Then and Now (expected publication: winter 2021). She is also writing a book to be published in Portuguese, Epistemologias Decoloniais para Planejamento Energético no Brasil (expected publication for January 2022).
