Karim is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM); He joined Westminster University in 2016 and has been lecturing on a wide range of Marketing areas both in the UK and overseas since 2007; He previously led modules (at undergraduate and postgraduate / MBA level) at H-E institutions such as Victoria University, Oxford Brookes, Bedfordshire and Loughborough.
Karim’s background is in the UK financial services and commercial credit sectors having worked for Abbey Santander and Dialog Corporation (ThomsonReuters) in credit management and analysis roles; More recently he worked as a management consultant lead for client firms such as Nokia Siemens Networks, Henkel, CAF Siemens (rail engineering), Voith AG, SG Consumer Finance and GE.
Karim holds a BA in Business Economics & Management from Université de Franche-Comté (France), a Masters in Management from Université Montpellier III, followed by an MSc in Marketing, and a Marketing PhD which he completed at Kingston University under the supervision of Pr Kalafatis (Committee: Pr A. Palmer & Pr Arthur Money); His Phd thesis investigated attitudinal determinants of consumer behaviour in the UK retail financial services sector.
Karim's research interests focus on services and experiences marketing, service quality measurement, customer / brand loyalty and psychometrics.
He presented his research at the annual Academy of Marketing (published proceedings) conference and more recently at the AMA Higher Education Marketing colloquium.
