Miss Rose Hayden
Rose is a Doctoral Researcher in History interested in historical press and media coverage. Prior to her PhD, Rose studied History and Politics at the University of Westminster and started her career in political campaigning, research and policy at the Hacked Off campaign supporting victims of press abuse.
Rose's research uses Northern Ireland as a case study to demonstrate how women are used in media for political motives. Her work centres around gender, conflict and the press with a particular focus on the Northern Ireland Troubles. Rose is interested in representations of women and her thesis assesses the role of misogynistic and sexualised press and rhetoric in exacerbating conflict.
