Rose is a Doctoral Researcher in History interested in historical press and media coverage. Prior to her PhD, Rose studied History and Politics at the University of Westminster and started her career in political campaigning, research and policy at the Hacked Off campaign supporting victims of press abuse.
Rose's research assesses the weaponisation of gender in conflict, demonstrating how women are used in media for political motives. Her work centres around gender, conflict and the press with a particular focus on the Northern Ireland 'Troubles'. Rose is interested in news media representations of women and her thesis assesses the denigration of women, the use of gender and rhetoric in exacerbating conflict.
