Mr Jaba Kaplanishvili


Jaba is a Trustee for ReportOUT, responsible for the organization's South European portfolio and he is working with refugees who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness. His expertise in advocating for vulnerable people is a result of his extensive experience in various organizations, where he developed various programmes and provided front-line work, such as essential housing or homelessness advocacy and immigration advice. Jaba's passion lies in working with refugees and individuals with intersectional identities, such as SOGI (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity) refugees. This aligns harmoniously with his academic interests and areas of expertise.


Jaba is currently pursuing his MPhil/PhD in Law at the University of Westminster. His research focuses on the credibility assessment of SOGI claims, and he is particularly creating an assessment methodology that aligns with international law, human rights and the values of diversity and inclusion. Jaba has secured a Quintin Hogg Trust scholarship to pursue his research.

Jaba firmly believes in the importance of intersectionality and strives to ensure that the right support is available for those in need. Jaba's academic journey includes an outstanding Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law from the University of Westminster, where he graduated with distinction. His educational foundation began with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International and European Studies from the University of Macedonia in Greece..
