Diego has worked in Higher Education since 2007 within undergraduate programmes for specialists, Institution-Wide Language Programmes and University Language Centres. Throughout his career, he has taught and coordinated courses in Spanish Language, Spanish Culture and Spanish for Specific Purposes at all levels, as well as making a significant contribution to curriculum development and design of teaching materials.
Before joining the University of Westminster, Diego worked at King’s College London, the University of Reading, the University of Exeter, Cardiff University, the University of Stirling, Instituto Cervantes London, Instituto Cervantes New York, Bard College (USA), the National University of Ireland in Galway, the University of Limerick (Ireland), Universidad Nebrija (Madrid, Spain), Universidad de Valladolid (Spain) and English Perfect Szkoła Języków Obcych (Olsztyn, Poland).
Diego is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and was recipient of a Fulbright grant in 2010-11. He holds an MA in Spanish Language Teaching, an MA in Language Teaching Methodology and a BA Honours in English Studies where he earned the Extraordinary Achievement Award for University Studies (Premio Extraordinario). He is Accredited Examiner at all levels for the DELE Examinations and has been member of DELE Exam Boards at Instituto Cervantes in Spain, the University of Exeter, Cardiff University and the University of Latvia.
Diego won the King’s Education Award in 2021 and has also been shortlisted and nominated by his students for other teaching awards throughout his career.
