I am a full-time PhD student in English Literature and hold a Humanities Studentship for my doctoral project. I graduated with an MLitt in The Gothic Imagination from the University of Stirling (Scotland) as well as a BA in both English Literature and Applied Psychology from Bishop’s University (Quebec, Canada). After completing my Master’s degree, I spent over three years as an independent researcher before starting my PhD. Additionally, I am a non-traditional, first-generation student who is a passionate advocate for accessibility in academia.
Originally from Quebec, Canada, I am now a ‘New Scots’ living on the east coast of the Scottish Highlands with my husband and our three cats.
My doctoral thesis, (currently) titled “Climate Hauntology: Gothic encounters with the climate crisis through haunted, feminine histories in speculative fiction (2019-present)”, presents an ecofeminist examination of the use of the gothic mode in women’s contemporary speculative fiction, highlighting the climate crisis and its silenced histories. Significantly, I explore the climate crisis as a haunting/haunted entity in these texts.
