Dr Yizhi Xu

I am currently a Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Westminster and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Previously, I was an Assistant Lecturer and Lecturer at Coventry University, as well as an hourly paid lecturer at London Metropolitan University and the University of East London.

Before moving to the UK, I spent 10 years working in microbiology and laboratory quality assurance at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China.

I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (Coventry University), a PhD in Microbiology (London Metropolitan University), a MPH (Nanjing Medical University), and an MSc in Food Science (London Metropolitan University).

My research interests focus on the responses and survival of various pathogens under different stress conditions, such as acid stress. Additionally, I am interested in the phenotypic and genotypic characterization of pathogens, including antimicrobial resistance.

I am keen to explore new research opportunities and welcome discussions on potential partnerships and innovative approaches to advancing impactful research.
