| Abstract | The aim of this paper was to evidence how biography as a hermeneutic tool when used in conjunction with visual, visual-semiotic, and the Bourdieusian notions of capital, habitus and field can be used to provide further insight into the private and public lives of any individual. This paper explored how art historical, biographical and sociological methods of analysis can lend alternative perspectives to the celebrity life, facilitating the drawing of clearer distinctions and evidencing the interrelationship between the private and public life. |
