Abstract

This book has three aims: to examine critical issues in current thinking about learner autonomy and teacher education; to give examples of a number of classroom approaches to the development of learner autonomy in the EuroPAL countries; and to present the work of various teacher educators and research that focuses on teacher development for learner autonomy. Concerned exclusively with language teaching and learning in secondary schools, the book is one of the products of the EuroPAL project, funded by the SOCRATES programme.
