Abstract

This book chapter discusses the philosophical work of Jacques Rancière in its relevance to photography as a broad social field of practice. The argument introduces and relates the three concepts of representation, ethics and aesthetics, as three 'regimes of image' to show that social and political problems are also 'aesthetic' questions.
