Description | The singular commission and acquisition was from the The Foundling Museum, London. My portrait of Lydia was made in her childhood classroom at her old school in Berkhamsted, England in August 2021 and now forms part of the Museum's permanent collection. The Foundling’s parent association, the children’s charity Coram, was established in 1739 by the philanthropist Thomas Coram to care for babies at risk of abandonment. Five artists were asked to make a photograph of one ex-Foundling who as part of the last generation of pupils admitted to the care of the Hospital in the 30's and 40's are a last living connection. |
