Description

The performance was hosted by Pearl Home Records Sound Salon in Walthamstowe.

Reciting, from memory, a list of all of the things found in the materials cupboard in Learning at Tate Modern whilst doing a short artist residency. The work was inspired by research commissioned by Tate on using materials as a learning resource. The use of language to describe materials and objects allowed a complicated set of material language, or semiotics. The order of description allowed for fixing and unfixing of formless (colour, material, etc) to form (object), exploring semiotics, taxonomy, value, hierarchy and language. The memorising of these objects meant there was a slippage between my visual memory and how I spoke, stuttering at times and labouring over colour combinations.
