| Abstract | Light field displays enable immersive visual environments by delivering accurate depth and 3D representation of the content. Due to the constrained viewing angle of light field displays, the alignment between the angular coverage of the captured scene with the field of view (FoV) of the display is essential. This paper employs the Looking Glass Factory light field display—with a 53-degree FoV—to visualize content captured at the same 53-degree angular extent provided in the KULF-TT53 light field dataset. In total, 77 stimuli are used in the test, comprising original contents and impaired version of them, which are encoded with HEVC, and AV1 at 1-5 Mbps bitrate range. Two subjective quality assessment metrics of MOS and DMOS are used to represent the obtained scores from the subjects. The evaluation of the results shows that AV1-encoded stimuli showcase better quality compared with HEVC, with statistically significant quality differences, at the considered bitrates. The per-subjects results of this study are made available upon publication of this work (Q-KULF-TT53 dataset). |
