Abstract

This chapter positions student-facing generative AI guidance as a component of assessment design rather than solely as an institutional governance mechanism. It examines how guidance on acceptable AI use, disclosure, data-risk awareness and AI literacy can support assessment validity, academic integrity, transparency and student engagement in AI-enabled learning environments. Drawing on a comparative UK–CARICOM perspective, the chapter explores policy visibility, the hidden curriculum and equitable access to institutional expectations. It contributes a practical framework for embedding clear, inclusive and transparent AI guidance within assessment practice, with implications for higher education policy, assessment design and inclusive student support.
