I was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1962. My father was an actor and my mother taught political science. Following mandatory army national service my family including myself moved to London. I decided to continue my education by studying architecture at the Polytechnic of Central London ( now Westminster University ). I graduated with a Diploma in Architecture in 1989. I worked for Rick Mather Architects and Stanton Williams before setting up my own practice, arclab in 1999. As well as running my own practice I have taught design at Brighton, Kingston, and Nottingham Trent universities. My association with Westminster, this time as a lecturer continued in 1999 when I started running a Diploma studio, which was expanded by becoming part of the teaching team on the new MA Interior Design course.
After ten years of running a practice, I needed a new challenge and wanted to open up more scope for research and reflection on my career as an architect that started back in 1989. The chance came in 2008 when I was offered to take a position of a Senior Lecturer in Professional Practice at Westminster. Since my decision was already made, I accepted the academic position and closed the practice in April 2009.
