Maria is a scholar who actively engages with communities and collaborates with organizations that aim to create a positive impact. Some of these organizations include social enterprises, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Along with her colleagues at WBS, Maria works with Social Enterprise UK (SEUK) to help social enterprises achieve their goals. They have conducted workshops, provided personalized consultations, and conducted research projects. Through their work, they have been able to influence various aspects of social enterprise practices such as gender empowerment, innovation, design thinking, and social impact.
One of Maria's notable achievements is the participatory project that resulted in the creation of the 'Gender Empowerment Guide for Social Enterprises'. This guide provides social enterprises with successful practices, impact indicators, and examples to empower their female employees and beneficiaries. The guide is now available online and shared with all SEUK members.
