Jane Stonestreet is the Director of Learning and Teaching in Westminster Law School. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
She graduated from the Polytechnic of Central London (now Westminster University) with an LLB degree, and went on to study a LLM in International Law at the London School of Economics.
Jane began teaching as a visiting lecturer at Westminster University in 1992 and became a full time member of the academic staff in 1994. She has held the posts of Senior Personal Tutor, Deputy Course Leader and Course Director of the LLB, Interim Associate Head of College for Education, and Interim Head of the Law School.
Jane is currently registered on a PhD in Higher Education at Lancaster University investigating influences in curriculum design in law. Jane has been actively involved in curriculum design for most of her career and is a University Validation Panel Chair. She has held a number of positions as an external advisor at other HE providers in the UK and has worked with collaborations abroad.
Jane mentors staff on the LLB in relation to curriculum design and learning and teaching, and mentors colleagues across the University applying for fellowship of the HEA.
Jane’s research interests have in recent years focused on pedagogic development and curriculum design. Previously she was funded to investigate the use of student peer review in developing critical analysis skills in writing, and led on a University academic framework project researching the internationalisation of the curriculum. More recently Jane has investigated students as researchers of their own curriculum, and students engagement in evaluative practices.
She is currently completing a PhD in Higher Education investigating influences on curriculum design in undergraduate law degrees and the agency that curriculum designers have in that process.
She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
