Farjam’s main research focus is on understanding of the dynamics of forming information quality frames by organisational users. These socio-cognitive frames are being formed by these users to perceive the quality of information in the organisational context. In this regard, his main work has been exploring (1) how the sense made of technology platforms (especially emerging platforms) which are used to deliver information, and (2) how the organisational setting of a task for which users require information, are involved in the above-mentioned dynamics. His work was presented in multiple prestigious conferences including the International Conference of Information Quality running by MIT Information Quality Centre, the annual meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM), the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) conference, the Digital Research Conference by University of Oxford Internet Research Centre, the UK Academy of Information Systems Conference, Innovation in Information Infrastructures Conferences at the University of Warwick and the University of Surrey, and the British Academy of Management Conference.

His professional memberships include the membership of the Academy of Management (AOM), the British Academy of Management (BAM), UK Academy of Information Systems (UKAIS) and Applied Quantitative Methods Network (AQMeN). He also served as a reviewer for several journals and conferences including the European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Studies in Higher Education and Academy of Management (AOM).

Prior to joining academia, Farjam had three years of professional experience of working as an information systems developer and consultant in automotive, food manufacturing and healthcare industries. For example, he was part of a developer team in the largest Iranian vegetable oil manufacturing company that developed a bespoke warehouse management module and integrated it into the enterprise system.
