Ms Liz Ellston
Liz is First Year Lead in BA Interior Architecture (BAIA) and, within this, Module Leader for Studies in Design and Technical Studies. She was previously Part-Time Visiting Lecturer in second year of BAIA in 2021.
She is an Examiner for the Architects Registration Board (ARB), Interior Design Degree and Foundations Tutor at the Open College of the Arts, and has been Part-Time Teaching Fellow in Architecture at the University of Bath for both 1st and 3rd year Architecture Degree. Along with visiting critic and tutor including Regents and London Metropolitan Universities.
Liz has worked in the architecture and design profession in a range of practices covering Interior Design and Architecture, Environmental Engineering and Masterplanning for several innovative practices including Battle McCarthy Engineers, Urban Research Lab, Urban Salon and as an Associate Director in Architecture and Interior Design Practice.
Her role as Environmental Communicator on dissemination and communication for hybridGEOTABS – MPC:-GT, a 4-year Horizon 2020 EU research project, focuses on hybrid MPC GEOTABS systems and case study buildings with the culmination of a manual, “Renewable and Storage-Integrated Systems to Supply Comfort In Buildings: Pre-Design and Control For hybridGEOTABS Projects.”
Liz has been an RIBA Part 1 and Part 3 mentor, actively supporting further learning through external lectures, events and social interaction with design groups. She also consulted on preparation for RIBA visiting board MArch Exhibition at the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) in 2019.
As a London Region RIBA Branch Member acting as Treasurer and Education Liaison involved in debates, events organisation Liz was involved, in particular, with CLAWSA Winners, celebrating past winners of the University of Westminster RIBA Branch Prize with a Pecha Kucha evening held at the University. She was also on the judging panel for both Westminster University and the Bartlett RIBA Branch Prizes.
Liz advocates, and has been involved with, various EASA European Architecture Students Assembly workshops and locations. Including Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds Winterschools and Scandinavia 97 Summerschool: Architecture on the Move; a Mile long train with 350 arch students travelling through Denmark to Norway.
Liz is also an experienced scuba diver and qualified BSAC diving instructor.
