Dr Michael Filippidis


I joined Westminster Business School in August 2023 as a Lecturer in Economics. I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Portsmouth, an MSc in Business Economics, Finance and Banking from the University of Portsmouth and a Degree in Economics from the University of Cyprus. Since 2013, my employment in the higher education includes the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at Portsmouth University, the Department of Accounting and Finance at Sussex University and the International College Portsmouth.  


My research area is associated with energy economics, environmental economics, energy finance, financial markets, empirical macroeconomics, supply chain network, ESG performance.

PhD supervision interests include crude oil markets, commodity markets, refined petroleum products markets, stock market activity (returns and volatility),
