Ali Hassan is a Lecturer at Westminster Business School (WBS) and joined WBS in 2018 as a doctoral researcher. He holds a BSc(Hons) in Business Management with Finance, an MSc in International Banking, Finance and Risk Management and a PhD in Finance. His expertise lies in M&A, Financial Stability, Financial Intermediation, Credit and Liquidity Risk, and Systemic Risk measurement.
Ali teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students a wide range of finance, accounting, and management modules at WBS. Before joining the University of Westminster, Ali taught numerous modules on MBA, MSc and BA programmes at the University of Liverpool, Bath Spa University, and Kaplan International. Before joining academia, Ali also gained work experience working for a joint venture between Barclays and HSBC within the Financial Services industry in the UK.

Ali is an active researcher and his main areas of research interest include Financial Stability in emerging markets, Financial intermediation, Bank capital and Liquidity regulations, Credit and Liquidity risks, Systemic Risk measurement and CoVaR modelling. Ali has supervised numerous students at the Masters and pre-doctorate level. He has also presented his research at research conferences and is currently working on several research papers.
