Dr Russell White


Russell is an experienced academic and writer who is currently one of the Assistant Heads within Westminster School of Arts. He oversees the School’s Arts and Emerging Technologies area. Russell studied at the University of Winchester, the Institute for the Study of the Americas at the University of London and King’s College London. His academic career has taken in the University of Winchester, Southampton Solent University and the University of the Arts London. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research areas

Russell’s current research interests lie in the role played by early photography in the shaping of modernity in the Americas. He has published several articles on this subject including pieces on James VanDerZee, Agustín Casasola, Tito Caula, Revert Henrique Klumb and Flávio de Barros. Russell also used to write for the London-based news organisation Latin America Bureau.
