Description | Single video projection with black screen, mosquito netting and semi-silvered mirror. It uses the wave to link memories of home to experiences of cultural difference. The video uses material shot in India on the journey to Mahabaleshwar, historic hill station during the Raj which was used extensively to train British troops during WW2. It is situated en route to Satara, the site of the headquarters for the leaders of the Quit India movement in the 1940s. My adoptive father drove lorries on the steep winding route over the Ghats and wrote a brief note to his wife ‘quite fit and well, your loving husband’. |
