Questo studio è diviso in tre parti: la prima si concentra sull'autotrasformazione nella scrittura diaristica di Etty Hillesum; la seconda prende in esame la relazione con l'altro, e quindi le lettere scritte dall'autrice soprattutto dal campo di prigionia nazista; la terza si interroga su alcuni problemi relativi alle pratiche di scrittura femminili.
