Abstract | Socio - cultural constructs contain inequality and discrimination within its structure. They have been progressively nurtured with time. These impositions on an individual (female) instigate a psychological imbalance and affect their mental health. The areas of exploration and examination is in relation to the challenges faced by women in regard to the various constructs in higher education (India) and the forms of discrimination, harassment, depression, etc. which impact their mental health and functionalities. It deals with the dynamics of social and psychological constructs of gender in higher education. The present study focuses on different aspects related to social and psychological barriers faced by women. Consequently, to ascertain sustainable development and prevent marginalization, the focus on gender gives the impression of being crucial. The explored factors would also inform about the specialized domain of gender studies which would add to the current understanding of a feminist perspective of theory and praxis. |
