Abstract | This paper introduces the line structure of road network as a mean of representing pedestrian network in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong the pedestrian network combines both steep topographies as for the road network and separation from the road network due to extensive publicly accessible multi-level outdoor and indoor pedestrian network. The paper demonstrates how the pedestrian network departs from existing representations of road networks. In doing so the paper show how the properties pedestrian route choice can be encoded in line representation as path centre line and linear referencing. The paper investigates the concept of cardinality operationalised in road planning in the 3D indoor and outdoor pedestrian network in Central showing the cardinality between the street level pedestrian, the elevated network emerging from piecemeal ad hoc market logic/public regulations. |
