Abstract | Given their study experience at Westminster, current undergraduates, postgraduates, and alumni are potentially receptive audiences when it comes to calls for them to pursue further study at their alma mater. As well as gaining additional knowledge and skills through further study and contributing to the Westminster community, re-enrolling students are an important source of income. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the drivers and deterrents of re-enrolment of current/former undergraduates and postgraduates at Westminster and what the institution can do to encourage more students to stay. It discusses various themes and their impact on re-enrolment, including why students take breaks in their studies, course availability and content, employment prospects, cost and financial considerations, ranking and reputation, expectations of further study, perceptions of teaching quality, and the availability of flexible study options. Means of addressing re-enrolment are also discussed and relate primarily to communication and the improved showcasing of academics' research, as well as more instruction and guidance on the PhD application and admissions process. |
