Abstract

For many people, a pension fund represents a crucial source of financial security in their retirement years. But have you ever stopped to consider who is responsible for managing these funds and ensuring they are safeguarded for future generations? In Zimbabwe, pension fund trustees play a critical role in this process. Being a pension fund trustee might sound like a fairly straightforward task - but in reality, it's a job that comes with a host of legal obligations, financial responsibilities, and potential risks. As the saying goes, “with great power comes great responsibility.” And for pension fund trustees in Zimbabwe, that statement couldn't be more true. From managing investments to ensuring compliance with regulations, trustees have a huge role to play in protecting the financial futures of countless Zimbabwean citizens. In this article, we take a close look at the role of trusteeship in the pension system - and what it takes to do the job right.
