Abstract

Olga Mitterfellner, Senior lecturer, academic author, social value activist & international consultant describes
the process of working with SOLIT and the unique opportunity that the students experienced:
As the module leader of Fashion Marketing and Branding on the Fashion Business Management course, my goal was to embed a collaborative partner into the curriculum who is exemplary
in achieving a better and more ethical fashion industry – an area which I have been actively researching for years and which informs my teaching practice.
When developing the next generation of fashion business professionals, I do not wish to replicate some of the problematic areas of the industry such as overconsumption,
pollution or exclusion but instead lead students to create positive societal change and lasting impact, not only on campus but in their future careers.
SOLIT Japan emerged the perfect partner who aligns with both the module and my vision because the startup focuses on creating an inclusive world. This article describes the collaboration, student experiences and outcomes of the project.
