| Abstract | Antonia, not her real name, shares her experience as the leader of a group of workers who overcame a hostile neoliberal environment and an aggressively anti-union employer to form a union, bargain collectively and secure an unusually favourable contract, only for their organisation to succumb soon afterwards to management’s ruthless and all too predictable retaliation. Her story centres on the interaction between neoliberal anti-union legislation, employer union-busting practices and worker mobilisation, showing how she and her fellow workers experienced, contested and temporarily overcame the harsh realities of Chile’s neoliberal workplace. |
