Abstract

The paper highlights the importance of equipping law students with Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills to remain current and relevant to both students, their future employers and the evolving legal landscape. It examines various tools and strategies for ethically integrating AI into the curriculum to support student learning and skill development, and suggests that AI could positively address some of the challenges faced by Law Schools and higher education more broadly.

Building on existing frameworks for AI literacy in higher education, the paper explores how to integrate AI skill development into teaching and discusses several teaching and learning activities that will help students develop an understanding of AI and how to use and apply it. It also emphasises the importance of raising students' awareness of the moral and ethical implications of AI and how this can be achieved to ensure that students can make informed and critical decisions regarding the use of AI tools. The overall aim of the paper is to provide ideas on how AI could be integrated into teaching and to explore some of the potential benefits AI could have on legal education.
