Research suggests that there is a link between the physical learning environment and learning outcomes, although much of this research is ambiguous. This paper explores how the physical environment mediates relationships between students and students and teachers, impacting on learning, wellbeing, social relationships and sense of belonging; and the qualities of an intelligent learning environment.
