Abstract

This chapter uses a case study to explore and apply concepts related to field trips that consider inclusivity in the design. The case study offers practical advice to those wishing to apply UNESCO’s key competencies for sustainability in the learning outcomes of a module. It showcases the design of two modes of field trip, namely walking and a virtual tour. It shows how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles were embedded to provide multiple means of engagement, representation, action and expression. Finally, the case study evaluates the impact of the field trip in terms of attendance, module evaluation, student feedback and assessment grades.
